If you are simply fed up with how auto dealers treat you keep reading. I am so heated at Stevens Creek Toyota it is pathetic!
I know everyone is apprehensive about walking up to a car dealer to purchase a vehicle. From the salesperson, to the "floor manager" and finance person; all are suspect to shady dealings. You would figure; that if a person is pre-approved for a loan from a credit union, and knows somewhat what he wants, and for a specific price, he should be able to walk onto a lot and get a "Yes" or "No" from a dealer. NOT at Stevens Creek Toyota.
"Can I get that car for this price?" should be answered plain and simply with a "Yes" or "No". You would think anyway.
At Stevens Creek Toyota inSanta Clara CA you WILL NOT get a "Yes" or "No". You will get;
"You don't deserve to be my customer!"
"Expletive!"
"You don't deserve to own an Audi!"
"Expletive!"
"You don't know the value of a car!"

Here is the story:
I went to Stevens Creek Toyota inSanta Clara CA and met a salesperson who humored me with about 6 test drives, between three separate lots, over a period of about 45 minutes. I found the car I was willing to buy at the Stevens Creek VW lot (that is owned by the same people) but the price was just a little high for what I wanted to spend on it. I told the salesperson I will pay "this" for "that", can you do it?
He sat me in a room, took my license and pre-approval letter from my credit union and disappeared for 30 minutes. I assumed; wrongly, they were writing up the paperwork for the purchase. He came back and relayed a question to me from my credit union. I gave him the answer and re-inquired; "Can I get that car, for this price?" I was met with a "We are running the numbers right now".
After 15 more minutes he came in with a credit application; which confused me. Since I had already secured a loan for what I was willing to pay for a car why did he need to run my credit? When I told him I would not allow it he continued trying to convince me he could get me a better rate. I told him no, 3 more times before he left the room.
After another 15 minutes I was informed that we had to drive from the Stevens Creek VW lot over to the Stevens Creek Toyota lot to complete the deal. I told him; "If someone does not let me know if I will get that car for this price within 5 minutes of arriving at the Stevens Creek Toyota lot I was going to walk. After we arrived, and before we went in the building, he told me I could get it for $1,000 more than what I was offering. He knew this before we even got in the car to drive over toStevens Creek Toyota . I threw up my hands in frustration and started to walk away, "Thank for wasting our time and I am now severely frustrated" was my comment. He said that "It was not set in stone and we still could get the deal I wanted"
After 10 minutes at the Stevens Creek Toyota lot the salesperson said we had to drive BACK over to the Stevens Creek VW lot because they would have to charge me more if I purchased it at the Stevens Creek Toyota lot. At this point in time I should have just walked away, but I am a true glutton for punishment.
On our way over to Stevens Creek VW I again stated, "If I do not get a yes or no on the deal I want within 5 minutes of arriving I am going to walk". When we arrived the salesperson went into the dealership for about 10 minutes. (I hope you understand.....at this point, I have invested HOURS in this whole operation and just wanted to either get the deal I asked for or just go home). BUT, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The so called "Floor Manager" came out and sat me down on the bench outside and started going over the wholesale, retail, Blue Book, etc... Value of the car in question.
I stopped him and asked AGAIN, now for the 11th? 12th? 13th? time. "CAN I GET THAT CAR AT THIS PRICE"? He leaned back in his chair and said NO.
AFTER 2.5 HOURS, DRIVING BACK AND FORTH FROM LOT TO LOT, ASKING AND ASKING AND ASKING. TELLING THEM IF I CAN'T GET THE DEAL I AM GOING TO WALK ETC... They now tell me NO. I stood up in frustration, asked the salesperson to drive me back to Stevens Creek Toyota (where my car was at) and said, "We could have saved each other a lot of time if you would have answered that question an hour and a half ago."
Then the verbal abuse began.
"You don't deserve to be my customer!"
"Expletive!"
"You don't deserve to own an Audi!"
"Expletive!"
"You don't know the value of a car!"
"Expletive!"
"Get off of my lot!"
"Expletive!"
"Go home, and don't come back!"
"Expletive, expletive, expletive!"

Yes this is pretty much the state of car negotiation at most dealerships until you get up in the high end BMW, Porsche, and Mercedes range. They seem to treat their customers a bit better. I bought a Touareg from Sunnyvale VW and wish I could tell you it was a better experience but it really wasn't. They inferred during my transaction that the Chinese residents of Sunnyvale were somehow impacting their sales. Ugh!
I negotiated an Audi purchase at Stevens Creek Audi/Porsche/VW about 5 years ago for a friend. The sales guy was great, but unfortunately in car sales it really does come down to the individual salesmen. I think until we consumers start rejecting the current method of sales and turn to CarsDirect and independent brokers that things will get worse before they get better.
Incidentally, the service department at Stevens Creek VW/Audi/Porsche is top notch. They are one of the few dealers that will treat your Jetta with as much care as if you had brought in a Porsche 997 Turbo. Even if you buy your Audi elsewhere I would recommend their service department.
I agree with the comments that I should have walked earlier. I am guilty of that. But does that give the dealership the right to belittle someone in public? Does that give the right to the dealer to verbally abuse it's customers? I think not.
What you describe sounds like a normal car price negotiation to me, up until the point where you tell the salesman that you were not negotiating at all.
From his perspective, you wasted his time by refusing to negotiate and failing to walk. And when you finished wasting his time, you told him off for doing so. The abusive language you suffered was unprofessional, but it sounds like the salesman thought you were jerking him around...
Here is how a car salesman expects a negotiation to go:
1. The buyer offers a price lower than the seller is willing to sell for.
2. The seller makes a counteroffer. The seller may try to change the nature of the deal (such as by offering different car options, financing packages, service plans, etc.), but effectively they make a counteroffer. They may try to stall and hope that the buyer makes a higher offer. But any strategy they employ is designed to make the seller make a higher offer.
3. The buyer either makes a higher offer, or walks. If he sticks around, it means he is willing to entertain other offers.
It sounds like you threatened to walk several times during your negotiation -- but YOU NEVER WALKED. If you weren't getting the answer you wanted, why didn't you walk? Either the salesman would have chased you down, or you would know they were not interested. Either way, you would have gotten the answer, much faster.
[BTW, I purchased a Toyota at Steven's Creek Toyota a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier with the experience.]
For the sake of space and time I did not share the part where I was willing to negotiate on an Audi A4 that I had test drove right before the A6.
The reason for sticking around was that I was going to buy the A4 if the dealership could not give me the deal on the A6.
I told the salesperson we would negotiate on the A4 if I could not get the A6. Hence the sticking around.
So, to the poster that thinks I was the one jerking the salesperson around.......think again.
I don't know about anyone else but an auto negotiation should not have cursing and yelling in it. Since I have only purchased 3 cars from a dealer in my life I guess I am out of touch with what normal is. From what I read in the original post it seems that this gentleman ddn't get an answer of a higher price for the vehicle at all, and when he did he walked. Just doesn't seem right to have someone stating it was this gentlemans fault for getting publicly humiliated

BTW, Mr. "Normal Auto Negotiation" poster. I was not negotiating. I asked a simple question, Can I get that car at this price. A simple yes or no answer was all that was required. If the answer was "No" we would have moved on to the A4. If the answer was yes we would have had a deal.
You should always file a complaint with bbb and check bbb site before doing any big ticket purchases
Hmmmm. I thought the guy I had from Stevens Creek was quite pushy too... In the end I asked some auto website (cars.com?) to find me prices, and Toyota 101 in Redwood City came in $4,000 cheaper.
Oh, and Toyota 101 doesn't pay commission to it's sales people, and is proud of it. They sat on the car for two weeks while I sorted out my problems with finance (I'm a foreigner), and were great about it the whole time.
I highly recommend them.
threats only mean something when followed thru. if you ask a question more than once, walk off the lot right then. if they chase you down, tell them that you will find a dealer that wants your business and leave.
when i shop for cars, i test drive a bunch of cars first, walking off the lot if they insist that i can "take it home tonight!" i decide what i want, then i call a few dealers that have the car, tell them exactly what car/color/upgrades that i want, and inform them that i _will_ purchase tomorrow from the dealer with the lowest price. period. "call me back with your price"
this works well. particularly if you have pre-arranged financing.
Yup, Stevens Creek were a pain in the ass with me as well.
For a start, I felt as though the guy who was helping me was trying to crack onto me.
I told him I just wanted to have a look at used cars (something like a Camry) and he kept trying to make me test drive a 2 door Scion TC.
Every car I looked at he kept trying to make me test drive it and he kept dragging me toward new cars.
I eventually told him to leave me alone so I could look at the cars I wanted without him.
He told me all about how he was getting buff and working out heaps and which gym he went to, and asked where I liked to hang out....

On another note, Tracy Toyota were fantastic to deal with - called when they said they would, got us the exact car we wanted when another dealer was completely stuffing us around, and most importantly - friendly!
Stevens Creek dealerships are not the best of the breed, are they? I'd suggest going to Toyota Palo Alto, where they do not do any of those "usual tricks". Disclaimer: I do not work for them. I bought two cars from them, and will buy from them again, when the time comes.
I too had an awful experience with steven's creek toyota, I avoid them at all costs now. We've bought other cars at Santa Cruz Toyota and had a great experience there.
Jay, the dude back in the back office that tells you the car you just bought will fall apart in 3 weeks unless you buy the extended warranty service is particularly obnoxious. I'm glad you didn't get as far as talking to him....

They actually ran my credit without approval. I know I am stupid for doing this but I let them have the pre-approval letter from my credit union that had my SSN on it.
They asked me to run my credit 3 times and I insisted they DON'T do it since I was not financing through them.
This morning I had a sneaky suspicion and pulled my report myself and sure enough!! They ran my credit without approval from me. In fact they ran it after I said NO three times.
Does anyone know what state or federal agency I can report them to for credit fraud? (If this constitutes credit fraud)
I had a similar experience with Stevens Creek Toyota several years back and walked out while the guy was in back (cowardly, I know). Because I didn't initially look at one of the higher end 4runners he wanted to push at me and was initially looking at Corollas, he berated me when I asked about the price on a HIghlander. He told me that if I couldn't afford a 4runner what made me think he was going to show me a Highlander. We hadn't even gotten to the $ piece yet -- just because I intially looked at the Corollas did not mean I couldn't afford a more expensive car or wasn't willing to spend more if I really liked the car.
He then proceeded to tell me that he was going to give me such a good deal that I would have to take him out to dinner. He said that like 3 times. Ewww.
I ended up going down to Stevens Creek VW and buying my Jetta. Unfortunately, when I went to go purchase another Jetta a few years later, I had a terrible experience at Stevens Creek VW. After way too much drama, I bought my Jetta in Milpitas. That was a very good experience.
And I'm glad someone has had a good experience with Steven Creek VW Service, because my experience has been crap. I had one guy in the office refer to Toyotas as "jap cars". Hello? I was appalled.
I once left the service place and the car had a rattling sound that wasn't there when I brought it in. I brought it back (right away) and asked them to get rid of it -- the guy said they gave it to me for free (the noise), why would I want to give it back? He was half kidding, but basically blew me off and said they couldn't find the source and that sometimes cars just get these little noises as they age.
I hate to "blame the victim", but you have a very naive idea of how auto dealerships work. I say this because I was too. You were in a worst-case scenerio, alas, but you'll get a "lite" version anywhere else you go.

Just to add. I think some posters are losing sight of what the real issue is. The real issue is a person was verbally assaulted and humiliated by another person in public. That's the bottom line.
Well I just found this blog by mistake, it caught my eye because of the dealership name. We have purchased 3 Toyota's from them and continiue to have them serviced.
All the people we have come in contact with have been very nice. If this salesman is this way I am sure he will not last, no employer would have that kind of liabilty out there.

I can't deny that I had the same experience with Honda of SC. They sold me a car they didn't. After shaking hands, that is 3 hours after negotiating (have to come down to my set price/color/trade in value/etc), they sold me a car they didn't have. Their answer was they'll acquire one thru a dealer trade. Walked off the lot. Went online, found the right car in Sunnyvale Honda and purchased the same night.
My wife and I just dealt with Stevens Creek Toyota/Scion last night. We had a similiar experience to you. I called ahead of time and set an appt. I was very up front about my situation and about what I could and couldn't spend. I told him that if they couldn't do anything I didn't want to waste my time or theirs.
I was assured that they could accomadate me. My wife and I arrived at 5:15pm and the guy we had the appt with wasn't there. He showed up 15 minutes later. He took our licenses and my car key and registration for my trade-in.
Without giving me any #'s he said he had a couple of vehicles he could work a deal on. We test drove an Endeavor and decided we wanted to get it if we could.
Now comes the same back and forth. We told the guy numerous times what we could do and everytime he came back it was something other than what we asked for. Now I know how negotiations work...I was ready for this. After the 5th go round I told my wife they're not going to come close to what we want so let's leave.
I asked the guy for my key and registration and he started running interference. We got up and said were leaving get us what we asked for. The guy brings me my key and registration and we head out to my car. However, my car wasn't there. They moved it when the manager test drove it and parked it behind the building in the lot across the street. WTF! Now they had gone to far. It took 30 minutes to "Find" my car, meanwhile the sales manager is now following me around and giving me grief. Telling me how they've worked so so hard and that I should just give them what they want. FAT CHANCE. We find my car and go to leave when the manager says "oh. By the way did you get your driver's licenses back?" The guy knew all along that he had my licenses. He made me walk all the back across the street to get them, and he's still trying to close the sale. He's pretending to search his desk and I was finally blunt and a little rude and told him to hurry the hell up. He then pats his shirt down and pulls them out of his breast pocket.
At this point I lost it. I told the guy where he could put his cars. I also mentioned that I was in the insurance business and that I was going to make it a point to let all my clients know that shopping at his store was a BIG HUGE mistake.
I didn't give the guy a chance to swear at me. I just turned my back on him and walked out.
On a side note. It turns out my wifes brothers girlfriend works for Stevens Creek VW (the same people who own the toyota/scion). I talked to her right after this. She put me in touch with a sales guy there. We spoke and he laughed at their BS. He gave me the exact deal that I wanted in the first place no "comprimises" or "meeting him half way". The expression on those bastards faces when we walked over and picked up my new car was priceless.
Avoid Stevens Creek Toyota
We negotiated a very good deal on 7/20/05 for a 2005 Camry LE V6. Signed the contract. But did not complete all the paper work as we did not furnish the insurance on time. So we agreed that we would bring a cashier check the following day and insurance to pick up the car.
Today we went to the dealership happliy to pick up the new car for my mother in law. Upon inspection we found out that the car has been damaged (minor, but it will require to be repainted). Of course we refused. Why would anyone want to buy a car that needs to have body part repainted (however minor it is).
We asked the dealer to give us another car on the lot with same option. The dealer refused. Instead for the next hour and half keeps on forcing us to take the damaged car. They keep on stating that the DMV paper work has been sent, they can't take the car back and give us a replacement (which is a lie, since you can't submit DMV paperwork without proof of insurance).
After three high-pressure attempt to force the damaged car down my throat (which we refused). We were told the leave that we are no longer worthy of a customer to Stevens Creek Toyota.
When does the dealer has the right to force a damaged car down the customer's throat? When does the dealer blow off customer with cashier check in hand, signed contract on the other? Especially when the customer is not at fault? It's not my fault that the dealer did not put the car in safe place and the car got damaged.
Why should i take damaged goods (no matter how minor it is)? Why can't I ask for another car that they had on the lot (same color, options i wanted)?
Anyway, STAY AWAY FROM STEVENS CREEK TOYOTA.

Well what do you expect .. you showed up unprepared at the car dealership, with poor negotiation skills to boot. A seasoned car salesman can detect that in a heartbeat and use it against you, which is exactly what they did.
That happened to me in 1998 when I was making my first new car purchase in the US. Long story short I ended up paying more than MSRP for a stupid Ford Mustang. I changed car 5 times between 1998 and 2003, and I learnt how to do business with those guys. Do all your research before you walk on the car lot. Know exactly how much they pay (invoice/wholesale/car auctions), how much carsdirect charges for a new car, how much a similar car goes for on craigslist, etc. Walk in, know what you're looking for and tell the car salesman "this car for that price". If you detect the slightest amount of BS in their response, *do* walk away immediately. Don't turn back, nothing. There are tens of Brand X dealers in the Bay Area, don't waste your time with wankers.
I posted my VW for sale on craigslist and Stevens Creek VW called me they were interested in buying the car. I was suprised for this call! I told them I am not interested in selling for tradein value. He told me they need good used cars for their new dealership and my price is close what they are willing to pay. I wanted to check out the new passat as well, so I took the car there anyway, and the moment I arrived they started playing the usual lowballing. I walked out immediately after hearing their first price. a week later I sold it myself.
Today, I read on craigslist they called other sellers from craigslst for the eact same purpose.
I am still puzzled why they try to get private party sellers into their shop.(to sell to them?) I am a private party seller for a reason, I do not want to trade it in, right?
BTW I really liked the passat but oh well SC VW reminded me why I would not want one.
I hear a lot of comments here about treatment by specific salesmen. As I am about to purchase from Stevens Creek VW (Costco pricing $300 above invoice), I'd love to hear some names. Don't abusive salesmen deserve to have their names put out there? Good salesmen too.
You can do better than costco pricing. Go checkout edmunds.com price paid forums. Almost all cars have dealer incentives on them now, especially 06's

Does anyone really believe that you should "expect" to be humiliated in front of other customers, or verbally abused if you are not prepared to deal with the sharks at the dealership?
I will re-iterate the purpose of this blog. It is not that I got ripped off, it is not that they forced me into a deal I did not want, it IS NOT because I bought a car from them and later regretted it. I did not buy a car from them cause I did my homework and knew I was getting ripped off. I did not buy a car from them cause they would not give me the deal I wanted. Because I WAS willing to walk they verbally assaulted me and humiliated me in front of other customers.

Let's stick to the subject. No matter how unprepared or how ignorant a customer is, they should never be humiliated when they choose not to do business with someone that is attemtping to railroad them into something they do not want
It is of my opinion that many car dealerships and salesmen are not to be trusted.
How do I know this?
In 1982, I drove by Reno Volkswagen and saw a used 74 Convertible. I fell in love with the car and was willing to trade in a new Honda Accord for the older vehicle.
My mistake was I let the salesman know how much I wanted that car. Once he knew how much I liked the car, he had another salesman call his desk to express interest in the same car. He quickly learned how much I was willing to spend for the car.
How do I know he did this...I dated the salesman after I bought the car. After he turned the screws to me, I let him buy me dinner, trips to the wine country and even service the new used car I bought from the dealership. But the best part was the salesman gave me a new Audi for a loaner car while they serviced my little Bug. Which by the way, I still own and love!
I learned the hard way back in 1982, trade-ins will hook you and dealers are sneaky. Enter the salesroom with caution and never show interest in the vehicle.
Sunnyvale VW doesn't know how to treat their customers, I have the worst experiences there. I will never to there again!!!

I had bad service problems with them. After an oil change I found lots of oil spill on the seat, another instance they didn't want me to answer my phone call and then I left a angry voice message. They reported to police and when I went to pickup the car police arrested me for that angry voice message. I had to spent 2 nights in jail and lots of expenses to get for the court and attorney. VW dealers of Sunnyvale and Stevencreek are craps! Literally I mean it.

In May of 2006,i bought a used BMW from steven creek toyota which is located in Santa Clara,California.The car that i bought from this dealership was in an accident.The car came with a bowed out truck that had been popped out with a dent puller.The steel railings behind the bumper are all tore and bent up out of shape.Also the car came with electrical problems and a fault head gasket.I have over $4,000 t0 $5,000 dollars worth of damage to the car or more.I have a head gasket that has to be replace and the cost to replace this $5,000 dollars.That is not the end of this.To make a long story short.I have talked to steven creek toyota and the bank has talked to steven creek toyota and there reponse was that steven creek toyota was "we don't care as long as the car runs" if you by a car from steven creek toyota becareful because i bought a a savage wreck car from this dealership.Now i am going to sue under california civil code 1770,which is dealer fraud.If you buy a car from steven creek toyota check your car out completely and don't trust the sales people on what they are telling you about the car.I would never never never never buy another car from steven creek toyota.They sale savage car on there lot.

I went with my son and my wife to the Toyota scion dealership on Stevens’s creek next to land rover, WOW what an experience; everything was going fine we test drove the vehicle we new we wanted and we had our loan .
Mark, who we had to deal with, since the dealer we had been doing business with (Ford) was not there, Mark was pretty mellow at first; After our test drive I told him to check to see if the recalls were done on the Ford Escape, all he had to do is tell me, if you go to the ford dealership they will take care of it free of charge.
Nah, not him he goes through the checklist and says,
MARK: well this first one here where the car stalls why is that a problem all cars stall.
DAVID: (I look it him and then I look at my wife and child puzzled by his comment). I tell him are you serious
MARK: well this next one where the hatch door opens in a crash, come on really everyone should just make sure that it’s locked (Serious look on his face) .This third one…, I am more concerned but not really, because you have a warranty, if the brakes go bad you have your warranty not an issue. I will ask TJ inside about the recalls
We then start walking toward the dealership office. A man came to me and said yes the recalls will be done at the ford dealership free of charge. I said good that is all I needed to know, but what worried me was the Mark and his attitude toward safety, he was still saying how they were not really major faults.
David: You know mark there was a blog about this dealership and that the dealers had cursed and badly handled customers
Mark: I have heard of it, but that was before my time and that all the dealers here are professional.
David: yeah probably in the past (at this point I am thinking this guy is not very nice and he doesn’t care about anything but making a deal)
Mark: yes we are not like that here
My wife and I take a seat and we then start discussing what we will do as far as purchasing the car from the dealership.
David: we will be coming tomorrow with the check we like the car (I had gotten my loan from USAA which I still have now)
Mark: (Leans back in his chair looks at me mean), WHY NOT TAKE IT TODAY WE WILL FINANCE IT FOR YOU.
David: No, I have a loan already I will be here tomorrow (in a calm voice).
Mark: (Very Rude and sternly), IF YOU DON’T GET IT TODAY… THEN SOME ONE ELSE CAN BUY IT, WELL JUST THE OTHER DAY, SOMEONE ELSE WANTED TO DO THE SAME AND NOW THE CAR IS GONE, (voice Infliction higher, and more stern pressuring us to finance but we already had our loan).
David: (smiling so as to try and change his rudeness at this point and keep cool in front of my family). Thanks but if the car is not going to be here, we can find another on the lot there are a lot of SUVs sir.
Mark :( He gets mad leans back even more his chair) IT IS COMMON PRACTICE TO CHECK PEOPLE’S CREDIT AND IT WILL NOT LOWER YOUR CREDIT SCORE IF IT IS CHECKED. DO YOU NOT LIKE ME …? IS IT ME, WHAT’S GOING ON WHY YOU DON’T WANT THE CAR TODAY?
David: you don’t bother me (even though he was the rudest salesperson I had ever encountered) and I already have a loan it is not common practice to check someone’s credit if I already have a loan I will be here tomorrow, (so I told my wife to go quietly to our car, we have to get out of here.)
Now the guy starts saying if I was hiding something or if I didn’t like him I told him no there is nothing wrong thanks but I have to go now, then he starts to tell me you have no honor , you were in the military what are you afraid of . I tell him thanks I have had enough he chases after me sees my wife at the stop sign and says.
Mark: WHAT’S GOING ON WHY IS YOUR WIFE PARKED THERE, WHERE SHE IS GOING TELL HER TO GET BACK IN THE PARKING LOT NOW?
David: Mark again thanks, I have to go.
Mark: WHY DO YOU KEEP THANKING ME? BUY THE CAR LET ME RUN YOUR CREDIT LETS FINANCE IT. GET BACK HERE.
Now I am outside and in the car this is where I feared for my wife and child. He came running out the door telling me to get back inside. He yells at us and says don’t you want the car putting his hand on our car screaming at us .My wife at this point was scared she states we don’t want it any more and we take off. Hopefully my son and wife are not traumatized from this experience. What an experience, well my Toyota has 300,000 miles and still ticking and after this experience I don’t know when we will decide to go to buy a car what a psycho dealer.
The original person (ford) who I had done business with called and apologized for not checking the recalls I told ford that was not why I did not purchase the vehicle, in fact I was just going to come back tomorrow but after what just happened I do not wish to go back. The dealer was rude to me and my family.
I asked for a quote for a repair job over the phone at Steven Creek Toyota is the only dealership (out of five that I called) to have laughed at me, saying first they can't give a quote, and then later giving a quote that twice what the other four Toyota dealerships within 30 miles had quoted.
I only called them to ask for a quote because my mother, who doesn't speak great English, was overcharged for a particular service at this dealership. After dealing with these guys, I can see why the negative feelings against car dealerships exist.
Avoid Steven Creek Toyota!
I am curious.... how many of you people who post things like this actually get results from all of your complaints...?? Do you just sit here and complain? Do you have solutions to these problems? If you walk much more than you talk then I would assume this board would not exist. Becuase really this does nothing.....
Just a little education on blogging. Once a blog is written there is no maintenance required. It is there for all to see for all of eternity (exaggeration). So when others search the internet they will see it and possibly post a comment. So your assumption that people just sit their and complain all day is incorrect. People post their experiences and get on with their lives. Without a second thought to the blog. I wrote this blog a looooong time ago and have only come back to it when I get an email that someone has posted to it. It takes maybe 10 minutes every month or so out of my time.
You ask; does a blog like this get results?? YOU BET! How much money do you think this dealership has lost because someone has read this and put them last on their list to visit. How many times have people decided to visit the dealership regardless of what was posted BUT...had a keen eye out for unscrupulous behavior and decided to leave at the first sign of it.
I would be lying if I told you I knew, but you can read all of the statistics about blogs such as this and for every person posting there are hundreds that have read it.
If you want to live in your fantasy world and think that this takes more time than just a few minutes a month? you can.
If you want to live in your fantasy world and think this has no impact on the dealership? you can do that too.
But at least I got the word out about these sleazy people so I FEEL GREAT. Very therapeutic actually.
You should try learning how to type instead of sell cars, you might make more money at it.
I thought I would share my unpleasant experience with Steven's Creek Toyota. I was quoted $21820 by phone for a 2008 Toyota Prius package #2 (which is competitive with quotes I've received from Capital and Walnut Creek). At the dealership, everything seemed to be going fine: the sales person (Yang Wang) eagerly filled out the paperwork, including writing down the quoted price with my expected monthly payment.
Following this, they had me sit down for an hour while they performed a credit check to get a loan. Then they directed me to another corner of the dealership to speak with who I assume was the manager.
After attempting to chat for a little bit about my background, he gave me the unfortunate news that he was unable to sell me the vehicle for the price they quoted, and that doing so would be at a loss to the dealership. After asking if they had performed the credit check, I was told that they hadn't started because they had to unlock the vehicle in the database instead. He told me that with the new grad discount ($400) he could sell the vehicle for $22150 (so essentially he was trying to sell it for $22550). I told him calmly that I couldn't buy it at that price and that it seemed like he brought me in and had me wait with the intention of haggling. He
asked me in a chastising manner if thats how we perform sales at
my work. I replied that it reminded me of the best: street vendors in Egypt. He then stated that his sales person (Yang) shouldn't have quoted at that price. Later, he made some mock criticism to Yang, stating that he should only sell Package #6 with big discounts. In the next 10 minutes or so he started telling me about the car's availability at other dealerships, ultimately pointing out that they had misrepresented their stock with the hint that I would have similar
experiences. Somewhere in there he asked me how far Walnut Creek was.
Realizing that unlike the street vendors, it didn't seem like he was
going to budge, I asked him once more for his final price. It hadn't moved, so I told him I couldn't buy it and left. On my way out, Yang asked me the price the manager asked for and said sorry. All in all, it was not the most useful or pleasant way to spend the evening.
Beware.
I got my Avalon there in Oct 2005. I had a very pleasant experience with Jim, who after all this time still comes to talked to me everytime I get my car serviced.
When I was in the market for a new car, I was thinking mini van because I'm a mom. But I'm hip so I said maybe SUV. But because I was worried about gas prices, I found the Avalon to suit my needs perfectly. And I couldn't have done it without the help of my sales rep.
He happily included some floor mats and a keychain. The service department is friendly and quick. I've never had a problem with them and won't take my car anywhere else.

Obviously you are of the mindset that when someone is publicly humiliated by being verbally abused in front of numerous onlookers we should just crawl in a hole and chalk it up to experience?
Wouldn't bad Karma come back to me if I knew people were hurting others yet and did not tell anyone about it? What if I knew people would get assaulted if they visited a certain establishment and said nothing??
I would think that not saying anything would create bad mojo and saying something is actually creating good mojo.
I am happy you had a good experience but you can see that it is more of the exception rather than the rule.
How to deal with Stevens creek toyota which is perhaps the worst car dealership in this area. First I refused to fill out the form that they gave me as "mandatory requirement to give you a quote". They were LYING!!! I only put my name and refused to divulge my employer, SSN, home address or phone. I didn't sign it either. After 10 minutes of haggling, they gave me a quote and started negotiating. I had a reserve price in my mind. Once I reached there, I stopped talking and walked out.
Interesting read! Actually, your type of situation is exactly why I am getting into the car business. In fact, I just got my dealer's license, and I'm ready to help buyers.
Going through an auto broker can be a much better experience since the deal is negotiated ahead of time by a professional. Usually, a broker can get cars for close to wholesale value, and will add on his 'service fee'. this can be as little as $500. Not bad considering you saved all the difference between retail value and wholesale value.
Best part is, you tell the broker exactly what you want (car, color, options, etc) and he tells you a price. No haggling involved whatsoever. If you like the price, you do the deal, if you think you can do better on your own, you hit the pavement and start negotiating. Very simple and painless, and best of all, the phone call or email doesn't cost you anything.
Similar deal for used cars, you can tell a small dealer like me what you're looking for, and he can find it for you at dealer-only auctions for a flat fee. Again, you would be saving the difference between wholesale value and retail price charged by BIG dealers.

I too was screwed by Stevens Creek Toyota/Stevens Creek Volkswagen.
I bought a 2004 Jetta from them Sept. '07 (I actually bought it from the Toyota/Scion lot--learned later DON'T DO THAT)...
I wasted my $2000 on the "Warranty" which is not even worth the paper it's printed on.
Here's what happened. IMMEDIATELY after I drove it home the coolant light starts flashing. I check and refill the coolant, and a week later the same thing happens. When I took it to be fixed I found out I have a warped cylinder head. The repair is costing me $5500. What about my "Gold warranty" that supposedly covers virtually all parts of the car? Supposedly the warranty has a $100 deductible, so that's all I need to pay, right?
HAHA. Turns out the warranty scammers have a simple way to get out of EVER paying ANYTHING. Here's how it works. You get to take your pick of two excuses:
A. The damage occurred while you owned the car and it's your fault for improper maintenance.
B. The damage occurred before you owned it, so it's pre-existing.
Either way they won't pay a penny!
If you bought one of these "M.A.P." warranties and are reading this, CANCEL IT NOW! You can get a pro-rated refund for the time or miles remaining on it!
So why am I mad at Stevens Creek?
1. They explicitly told me that if something went wrong with the car the warranty would definitely cover it. That was a lie. Talking to the service manager where I am fixing the car, they rarely pay for anything. No doubt the sales guy got a fat check for selling me that turd of a warranty and I'm sure that's why he promised me it was useful.
2. The engine was absolutely already damaged before they sold it to me. The spark plugs alone were terrible which tells me they didn't even inspect the car before selling it.
BEWARE of Stevens Creek Volkswagen and Stevens Creek Toyota! They will rip you off.
to those who go to purchase cars from dealers be aware that most customers lie to the sales people daily I used to work in the industry and got sick of listening to people tell me how much better deal they could get somewhere else when i told them to go there and get it for that price they always wanted to know how low could i go or how close to that price could i come? I would ask why would you want to pay me more for the car if you can get it somewhere else for less? Oh well they dont have the car there or they would give me what i want for my trade. one guy said why dont you have one price on your car like steven creek honda does? I asked him i he had been there he said yes of course, i asked why didn't you buy your car there then? He said he wanted a better price. hmmmm so you dont want just one price on my car lie them do you? which he said i guess not so why are you complaining then he didnt have answer. people remember one thing if the saleman doesnt make a sale he doesn't get paid he is partly on your side but also on the dealers side he has to convince you why the dealer cant loose $ to sell you there car and covince the mgr why you wont pay that much for the car he doesnt controll the price or the process so give some of the sales staff a break they are not all bad people at all dealers there are some bad apples at every dealership when they find them they normally get rid of them. Oh buy the way when was the last time you went to macy and asked to see invoice on those shoes you were buying or anywhere else for that matter. good luck

Car sales have shady tactics to jack up the price and squeeze money from your pocket. It's just a nature of the business. The greedy bastard is the sales manager, not the salesman who happens to be just a pawn. Some managers are nice, some should go to hell and never come back.

My daughter and I were looking to buy a small car for her to drive back and forth to school for her last month.We started looking at another Toyota dealer close to our home.The salesman was more interested in her then selling her a car,and he was twice her age(she's 19).We ended the day at Stevens Creek Toyota,we had a totally different experience,very professional and straight forward.They didn't have the car that we were looking for but we were treated very well there.Can't remember the salesmans name but if I could I'd tell you his name and go there and see him.If you want to get abused try a whole day of car shopping,you'd be amazed.
This is my second time buying from Stevens Creek Toyota-Scion. Love the place and the people. Everyone is super nice. It is like a new breed of the car business. I bought a Pre-Owned Honda Civic which I adore. I told them I want the car but could not afford the price on the sticker. They worked with me on financing to get my payments exactly where I wanted them. Also reduced the price a bit for me too =0)!!
I highly recommend this dealer. I think if your just up front and go in with a positive attitude that things will work out to your advantage. If you have a bad attitude going in some where, your asking for a horible experience.

I was a car salesman for almost 3 years from 2001 through 2004 in southern California.I left the car business because I was fed up with being abused verbally on a daily basis by abusive customers.Reading some of the stories here reminds me of those same customers.I'd bet that some of these disgruntled customers have a hatred for salespeople and came onto the car lot looking for someone to abuse rather than make a car purchase.I don't miss any of you,and thanks to you I left car sales and am now a soft drink distributor.I bought a small truck at Stevens Creek Toyota on New Years Day and the entire staff from the salesman to the finance manager were all very straight forward with me and even delivered the new truck to my house.Great experience I highly recommend them to anybody.

I cringe at the thought of even thinking about going out to buy a car and when my Mother called me on the phone to help her buy a new car I cringed again.Being the good son that I am I went out to help her buy a new Corolla.I'm not going to mention a dealerships name if it was a bad experience but we went to a Toyota dealership on El Camino first and was shocked when the salesman told my Mother that before we check to see if we have the vehicle let's go inside and run her credit and if she's approved we can negotiate a price.I told the salesman that she's paying cash and we're here to purchase the car according to the price they had advertised in the newspaper.He told us to take a seat and he's be right back.Afew minutes later a big burly man comes into the office and yells out,which one of you lucky ladies gets to own the new Corolla?Last time I checked I didn't have any female body parts.I then asked this guy if we could see the car we want to buy.He asked me how I was going to pay for it.I told him my Mother was going to pay cash.He says,carrying that kind of cash around is asking for trouble.I replied,she has a check book,we're paying for the full amount by check.He replies back to me that he's prefer to speak to the person who's going to be the buyer.I reply back to him that this is going to be a purchase decision by the two of us and that I'm here to make sure she's not getting shafted.The man replies back that he doesn't appreciate me accusing his dealership of dishonest tactics.I replied back that I didn't accuse his dealership of anything of the sort.My Mother gets up from her chair and tells me let's go I don't like the way this man is acting.The man replies back that we're free to leave anytime,nobody here is keeping them here against their will.In the car I told my Mother we can try Stevens Creek Toyota they may have similar deals on the car.When we got to Stevens Creek Toyota the secretary called out for a salesperson.He came out and asked us how he could best serve us.Told him that we wanted to take a look at some Corollas.He showed us his dealerships inventory and took us on a test drive on the freeway in the car which my Mother wanted to buy.When we returned back to the dealership I asked the salemsman if they could match an advertised price by one of their local competitors,he said he'd ask the new car boss for us.He came back and said that he'd match the competitors price as long as it was a car of equal value.The one we drove wasn't but they had one that was,they gave us another test drive and we told the salesman that we would like to make the deal.Could we ask for anything more? No.We left in the new car and they even gave us a free tank of gas and a key chain.Overall experience was pleasant except the salesman had a tobacco odor that we didn't want the new car to smell like cigarette smoke.Other than that we can't complain at all.
You know what I find interesting?
There has been only random comments posted to my blog every two or three months for the last year or so. Then there are those times where comments posted by seemingly different people within minutes of each other.
What is more interesting is the fact that when that happens the comments ALWAYS say Stevens Creek Toyota is a good place to buy a car.
Hmmmm...I think me smells a Car Salesman that works at Stevens Creek Toyota posting to a blog pretending to be different people.
I could be wrong but that is what a Blog is for; posting observations and opinions.
After fully reading the comments that were posted over the last week here is my reply.
To those of you who had a good car buying experience at Stevens Creek Toyota; Good on you! You are the exception and not the rule as evidenced by this blog.
Basic facts.
I attempted to negotiate the deal I wanted and they said NO.
I got up to walk away from it and they yelled obscenities at me in front of other customers because I WAS walking away.
I complained to management and they did NOTHING.
This blog keeps perpetuating itself because people are fed up with the tactics used by Car Sales People. and DON'T try to pretend that you sales people don't have nasty, backhanded tactics.

I'm a salesmanager at a car dealership and agree that you should always treat clients with respect. I believe that should a smaller dealership have your car the experience will be better. you will probally meet the manager right away and get your car deal. Stevens Creek Toyota on the other hand is huge with that they will have some good and some bad experiences. Geoff is a great guy but he can't sell every car himself.

Traded my old Toyota truck in back in 2000 for a Tacoma 4x4 at Toyota of Stevens Creek and was planning on doing so again recently when my boss told me to trade it in and he'll again give me another $2500 towards my down payment.He owns a cabinet making business and I've worked 15 years for him.Was appraoched by a middle eastern salesman and told him I wanted to look at Tacoma 4x4's.He took me to a lot with some trucks and I found one that was much like the one I had in mind.Test drove it,truck was great.Told the salesman let's go back and I'd like to work out a deal.Went back to the office and told him my boss was giving me $2500,I was putting down $2000 plues my trade.He said sell the trade on Craigs list you'll get more.I told him I just wanted to trade it in I don't want to go through all the hassles to save a few dollars.He said sell it and put the money towards your truck loan later.I said why? you don't take trades? He said I'll be back hold on.He comes back with a manager who was also middle eastern.He says you have a trade? I said yes.He says gimme the keys I've been in the business for 23 years I'll tell you exactly what it's worth.I said Iwant a $1000 and I'll be happy.He said a $1000 with how many miles? I said 120,000 miles.He said that's an auction car you're looking at $500.I said I bought it here give me $1000 and I'll take the new one.The salesman says to the manager,He needs to get a check from his boss.The manager says why don't you just come back with your boss and we'll do it all then.I was rather shocked they were asking me to leave when I wanted to buy.I can write the check now and my boss will pay me after it's no big deal,they did this last time in 2000.Anyways I said sure that'll work so I left.They didn't want a sale,auto sale are supposedly slow right now and they told me to come back with my boss,I was shocked.I didn't see the salesman around from my last purchase or else I would have tried to get his help again.I live less than a mile from this dealership and have my 2000 Tacoma serviced here.I would never return after that experience.I'm not far from another Toyota dealership I'll try my business there.

Yea we went there looking for a used truck all we got were these middle east sales dudes so we left.This same dealership owns the Scion used cars too we found out and all they have there is middle east sales dudes as well.We didn't stay long wasn't about to allow those guys to rob me.Try Pearcy Toytoa they have some American sales reps.

I was not a difficult customer. In fact I was cussed out because I was not smiling when I was ready to sign the paperwork. I guess their biz was good at that time, so they could afford to be rude.

This dealer for sure is rude to customers.I'm a waiter downtown SJ and got off work one night my Nissan Altima was stolen.Police in San Luis Obispo called 2 weeks later told me car was found,anyways the car was in such bad shape it wasn't worth fixing.AAA paid me the value of the Nissan I held title.Sister drove me to Steven Creek Toyota for a Corolla with the 0% interest.We were met by a salesman who was just starting his shift who was super high talking real fast and hard to follow and he kept saying he's had too many red bull.He was able to find a 4 cylinder Corolla in my price range.I drove it back from another location and went inside to work out all details.After filling out the paperwork to check my credit this salesman was outside a lot smoking and drinking coffee.He was all over the place.He comes back inside and asks me how much I was going to put for a down payment.I told him let's try with $2k for now.I could go as high as $9k.He goes over to the counter to his manager.After a few minutes we heard him say ask the customer what he's smoking he can't buy with so little down.A real smartass.The salesman came over and told me I need more down,I said how much?He goes back to his manager and asks how much down I need.The manager says probably more than he can afford.My sister said let's go this place gives me the creeps.When we left they made us sign a form with my credit balance on it.The credit was 706.I needed to purchase that day so we went to Sunnyvale Toyota on the El Camino.Salesman was an older man who was real nice,found the exact same Corolla and we bought it with $2k down with the same 0% promotion.To top things off they had an automatic discount that I wasn't aware of.Easy,simple and free of any games.Not sure if they are owned by the same owner but they shoule be aware of how Steven Creek treats it's customer.Sunnyvale Toyota was cool.

Wish I had found this blog before I went to this dealership last Saturday.I walked onto the lot with my kid to look for a Matrix.I walked towards 2 salesmen standing by the showroom entrance and as I got closer to where they were standing I heard one say these 2 are yours.The other salesman replied said something like it's okay I'll let you have them.WTF is that all about?Is business that good that they both don't want to help us?I turned around quickly and walked off the lot.WTH?Since when is buying a new Matrix a nuisance?

I was about to email Stevens Creek Toyota for a price quote when I stumbled upon this blog,so glad I did.These blogs are a great tool for letting others know what businesses are abusing their customers.I for one will not ask them for a price quote.My best guess is that this is probably owned by a corporation like Autonation where the managers only keep track of numbers and not the satisfaction of customers,a privately owned business wouldn't tolerate the types of things that are being told in these letters.Sending a letter to corporate offices or even Toyota will get some attention,all this will do is alert other buyers which is good but won't fix the problem.Thanks to all for their insight.

My office is near Stevens Creek Blvd and Int 280 and I'll be moving to a newer office in Redwood Shores.I want to get a Prius for my new commute but I have one color in mind and apparently this one color is harder to get than the others.I have a price quoted from Sunnyvale Toyota but they didn't have the color I want and I'm not going to settle for a second choice.I drove by Stevens Creek Toyota on the way to work one morning and I saw the color I want parked in the front by the sidewalk.When I took my lunch break I drove down to the dealer and it was still parked there so I drove in and was met by one of their salesmen.I walked him over to the car and told him that I'm interested in that Prius.We sat inside the car and chatted for a bit but I didn't have a whole lot of time to chat because I was on my lunch hour.The salesman offered me a test drive but I told him that wasn't necessary I drove one at Sunnyvale Toyota but if you can match their price on this car I'll leave you a deposit to hold the car til I get off work that afternoon.He said let's ask my boss.We came inside the building and we sat down in an office and the salesman went to his boss.I could hear the boss say "If he can get the car at Sunnyvale Toyota for that price why doesn't he go and buy it there"?The salesman came back to me but didn't say what the manager asked him to say,he was too nice.He asked me if I wanted to make a counter offer.I said I have to get back to work let me think this over for a bit while I'm at work.I left.
The next morning I drove by the dealer again and the Prius was still there,so I went back and walked inside the building and there was a woman manager this time.I tried to briefly chat with her about the car and she kept saying to me "I'll get you a salesman" I told her I don't really need one I know the car I want and will you match the price?She again repeated "I'll get you a salesman" She seemed agitated that I was there.I then headed back to where my car was parked and I heard the woman say to somebody"First thing in the morning I get this"As I walked to my car a salesman came up to me and offered to assist me.I told him I'll be back I have to go to work.I drove off.Is it me? What did I do wrong? I had two managers make me feel somewhat humiliated.Is it the color of this car that makes the price increased?I want the 2009 year model and I knew at that time that the 2010 models were close to being built and they want to sell the old models.I don't know why I seem to ruffle both managers feathers.
About three or Four days later John called me from Toyota of Sunnyvale and asked me if I was still in the market for a 2009 Prius.I told him yes but as I said before I'm only interested in that one color.He told me that he will have that exact color at his dealership that afternoon,I asked him if his price he quoted to me would still stand and he said yes.I've has the car for over 2 months now and have no complaints.Things worked out for the best and John my salesman and the manager at Toyota of Sunnyvale made the experience a pleasure for me.
To wrap up my story I was watching tv the other night and I saw Steve Wozniak on a commercial for Stevens Creek Toyota and I said to myself, Stevens Creek Toyota treats their customers about as well as Steve Wozniak dances.

Geoff Yeager is easitly ranked as one of the top General Manager's in all of the Bay Area if not all of California! everyone has heard of his commitment to client and employee satisfaction, and the guidelines he has set in place to ensure "continuous improvement" in every aspect of the deal. I work in Fairfield,CA (east of Vallejo,CA) and the auto group I work for can only dream of bringing someone along with such great leadership skills and customer, as well as employee loyalty! Having said that, some customer's will never be pleased! that's a fact. I worked in the Bay Area before, and it seems that upper class customer's(100k-250k) are more pompous and arrogant than a gentleman of Steve Wozniak's "caliber and money"(billions). Car buying is not rocket science! the more in demand the vehicle, the higher the price will be. Any reasonable amount of profit over what the dealership has invested and you will get your car. Buyer's who are truly uber rich or regular blue collar working clients seem to understand this concept better and treat the employees of dealerships much better, I.E. respect for that person's proffession and time, and just common courtesy. Customer's like you who demand 6 test drives and throw a number out which carries no research or information as far as if it's reasonable for that type of vehicle, demand, color, one owner car, etc. have obviously no respect for a commission salesperson's time. I hate to see how you treat waiter's, sales staff at Nordstrom's or the mall.
you probably make 4-6 times what the salesperson makes at that particular brand of store and yet you feel you're entitled to the cheapest price on the spot! you should have walked and saved yourself and the salesperson the drama!
that's why sales persons who learn the trade well and develope the skills to be the best! look for work at highline stores, like BMW or Porsche. exclusive clientele a bit snobby sometimes, but they behave much better and have a sense of decency and shame and will never subject an employee of said companies to what you put those people through!

Also, No matter what a customer asks for, test drives, lowball price, extras, color, etc... how could you even pretend to defend screaming obscenities at a customer in the middle of the dealership when other customers are there? As far as your respect for Mr. Yeager. I do not know him personally so I can not comment on whether he is a good man, his personality or his commitment to his profession. I recently went shopping for a Toyota Highlander at Stevens Creek Toyota. As soon as we stepped onto the parking lot, a salesman was there to assist us. It seemed like a good thing until he got us in a car, on our way to what I would later discover to be the used car lot. The rep barely knew the details and specs of his cars, the differences between trim levels and gas/hybrid differences. Overall, he wasn't very helpful.
I was clear and told the salesman upfront I was only beginning to shop around for a car. As soon as we got back from the test drive, they pulled a bait and switch on us and handed us over to the aggressive floor manager who tried to force into a sale right there and then.
I was looking for a baseline price, no negotiation/special pricing and could barely get the MSRP and financing rate from the manager without committing to buying the car.
Overall, I haven't selected the Highlander as my next vehicle but if I did, I wouldn't have bought it from Stevens Creek Toyota.
After three months of buying my used car from this dealer, I haven't yet got my documents from DMV. When I checked with DMV I came to know that the dealer has not submitted the records at all. Then when I checked with the dealer, I came to know there was some paper work issue about the previous transaction. I was disappointed that they sold me a car where the paper work is not complete, and then even after 3 months they couldnot resolve it. Also never got any calls from them mentioning about this issue until I called them.

The sales people are sleezy sexist pigs. We got a guy named Mark who was RUDE and snotty and a total jerk. I dont have to buy my car there. There are plenty of other places I can go. i thought dealerships were closing everyday in the news. You would think these losers would be nice to an actual real customer. Essentially this punkly little sales person told me to come back with my husband when I was ready to buy and not to waste his time asking questions. Isnt that why this moron is there? What else is he there for?? Is he too busy with all the lines of people that want to buy a car from him? No. Is he too busy grooming himself for his close up? No. He looked like he needed a bath and a lesson in manners.
Management needs to change their staff and their outlook . Someone like this awful loser wouldnt be tolerated with his attitude unless management doesnt like women either. If thats the case then the need to think and see if they can afford to piss off half the car buying population in this economy.
I went in a few days ago to get my oil changed after buying my Scion in November of last year. The oil change went quicker than expected & the employees were friendly. If my review were based solely on this, I'd give 5 stars.
However, I ran into the man who sold me my car & the first thing he did was bring up the review I left on Yelp after my purchase. At this point I had forgotten that I had even left a review at all, let alone what I said. He talked to me about it for what seemed like twenty-minutes or more and was really guilting me into changing it, even telling me that I wasn't being truthful in my review. He also mentioned how another review on here about him was really inappropriate and he wants it removed too. He even said he almost called my cell phone about my review after he read it - and I honestly don't feel I said anything very negative at all. I wouldn't have bought the car if I didn't feel comfortable enough to. A friend was with me through this whole encounter & we both found it rude & unprofessional.
My one other complaint is that someone at the lot at the time of the sale told me they were contacting the DMV to get me my 2nd plate ( for some reason my car only had one) and it would be mailed to me. It's been nearly 6 months & I still don't have a license plate. So when I asked the salesman about it he called & found out that I have to call the DMV myself & they can't get it for me. So, I've been driving around without a back plate for almost half a year & now I have to wait another half a year because I was misinformed. Very frustrating.
I'm not sure if this is a typical experience, but my family came here to buy a Toyota Sienna mini-van and even though we made the purchase and have owned the car for a few years now, it still wasn't a great experience from the get go.
We basically got ran around the lot for about 2 hours before really being able to stake the salesman down to just us as his customer as well as the specific minivan we wanted. Then we spent another hour browsing through the cars inventory lot because supposedly he had a better option. In the end we really did find the car that we wanted ... but that's when all the trouble started.
They said they would finish up paperwork with us while they cleaned out the car to prep it for us to take it home, however ... instead they put a dent into the trunk door of the minivan and then attempted to blame us even though we were inside the entire time.
My family is VERY meticulous with buying cars and notice every single ridiculous little nick, so there was no way that we could have picked out the van with a dent in the back. However, the papers were signed and they tried to push it off on us and tell us that we officially have to take the car and it is not their responsibility. WTF?
After much arguing, they offered to refund some money on the car because now we've been there a total of four and a half hours. WHOA ... making me dizzy.
Now in retrospect, we should have made them take back the car and get a new one ... the trunk door has a hard time locking that is getting harder with each passing month and must be slammed so hard sometimes you hurt yourself just shutting the damn thing.
'm not professional salesperson, so these people would likely outsell me in any sales contest. I do, however, think I could beat them in a Not Being a Jackass contest.
Problem #1: Sexism. The first salesperson asked who the car was for. My husband said mostly me. The salesperson, who had just been talking specs on a specific car, turned to me. "Do you like the color?" Well, it's okay, but you do you have the same thing in pink with a unicorn on the side?
Problem #2: Racism. As I test drove a very nice car, the second salesman, Mark, piped up from the backseat about how "people of the Chinese persuasion" are bad drivers. "Especially the women." So unprofessional and rude!
Problem #3: Kidnapping. They have several dealerships on the same street a few miles apart. They will insist on driving you from one to the other, so that you're trapped and have to stay until they drive you back to where your car is parked. Don't let them do this! Eventually, we "test drove" a car back to where our car was parked just to pick it up, so we could leave when we wanted to.
Problem #4: Bullying. When we said we wanted to sleep on buying the car, Mark, got extremely pushy. We said it was beyond our budget, and he suggested "just throw the last $3000 on a credit card". He'd bankrupt us to just to sell the car. My husband suggested that, perhaps, we felt a little beat up by Mark's pushy sales tactics. Mark countered with, "I feel a little beat up! My time is valuable!" Buddy, this is your job; you knew what you were getting into. We just want to buy a car.
Being ridiculed and guilt tripped was the last straw. We left.
I came here early in the summer of 2008 to test drive a 2008 Yaris. This is by far the worst car dealership experience I have ever had. The first salesperson who greeted us said he could get a Yaris, but that he had to go 2 miles away to get it from some other lot. We waited around for him to come back. We got sick of waiting for him, went next door to the Mazda dealership and took one for a spin, then returned to Toyota. The guy still hadn't returned so we went in search of another salesperson. Everyone on the floor seemed pre-occupied so it was tough getting anyone's attention.
Finally some schmuck shows up in a faded sweater his grandmother must have knit for him 20 years ago. He introduced himself with a handshake, while licking the remains of a vanilla ice-cream cone in his left hand. Talk about professional. So he says that he can take us to this "other" lot which is now 4 blocks away, not 2 miles. It turned out that this other lot is just a bunch of cars crammed in as tightly as possible. So he says, "Oh, I would get you a Yaris if I could, but I can't, so I won't, because it's parked behind all these other cars. But here, test drive a Matrix, it's a great car!"
I took it for a spin just for the hell of it, but I didn't want a gigantic car. This place was so bad that I stopped looking for cars for several months, until I bought a Honda today. But if you want a Toyota, go to the Sunnyvale Toyota dealership and ask for Stan
I decided to go here to grab a replacement cover for my 09 Camry since I didn't want to drive all the way out to Piercey in Milpitas (those guys are good btw) but this dealership was just down the street.
I'm not sure what counts as organization but the inventory appears to be in a huge chaotic mess when you walk into the parts department, stuff lying everywhere or thrown about in no particular manner, they could really use some structured shelves... even a gift shop is more organized.
The guy that ended up helping me was pretty damn slow, you'd think getting a single simple replacement accessory for the exterior would take less than 5 minutes but this guy took his sweet time, even stopping along to listen to another coworker rant about their life problems. I ended up waiting for ~15 minutes or so before I got my part, only it was the wrong part. Back to the service counter I went. While I "patiently" waited a second time for the right part, I couldn't help but notice the customer who showed up after me got his part in 5 minutes or so from another worker.
Total time spent @ dealership: 35minutes.
35 minutes of my life I'll never get back :(
This is the worst car dealer every! Worst even than Steven's Creek Honda, even though i gave SC Honda 1 star as well for good reasons. The idea salesperson couldn't find the car we wanted (specific color not in stock) and drove us all over the lot and to 2 additional lots to look for it. I really wanted to suggest that he just look in the computer to check their inventory. He seemed more interested in showing us his taxicab driving skills than helping us as he ran several yellow lights, made many illegal lane changes and cut several cars off. I shoulda just stayed in bed rather than come here.

I saw a tire special on the website "buy three, get one free" so I called to get a quote. After holding for several minutes (and they kept picking up and putting the phone down) a guy picked up the line and asked what I needed. I told him, he asked for the tire size, and I gave that to him. "Oh, I don't have my tire guide with me so let me transfer you to someone that does."
WHY? Why pick up the phone if you are useless? Why waste my time?
After being on hold (AGAIN) the same guy picks up. No one available, so he went and got his tire guide. WOW, THANKS FOR COMING TO WORK PREPARED. I give him the size (again!) and he says "Oh, we don't stock those." He then goes on to tell me if I come by they can order them.
I'm sorry, do you know gas is about $4 / gallon and p.s. I have a life. I'm not driving down there to get a quote. I'm calling someone else! I ask if I can get a quote before I consider driving down there, and he says yes, but guess what - HE CAN'T GIVE ME THE QUOTE. He has to transfer me to someone else!
Apparently I have given up on productivity today, so I allow the call to be transferred. When a voice mail message starts to play, I hang up.
Try looking for another repair/service shop. Don't get your car serviced here. When you see a check engine light on, for them to stick a hand held device to the car's computer to see the problem costs you $120. To replace a part is to two to three times labor cost. If your radio antenna is stuck and making annoying noise, to fix a radio antenna costs roughly $250. They don't care who you are, they will rip you off.
if Sam Pieracy is working don't buy your car from here! We went through all the time and effort it takes to get our price for a Rav4 sport with the floor manager (Rene), he got our price for us but neglecated to tell us that it was either 0% financing or $500.00 rebate. They applied the rebate to our purchase which was fine, they told us what our payments were and we confirmed 0% financing this is when the sales guy said 7.9%.....we said...WHAT? I thought it was 0% financing. Sam Pieracy the sales manager behind the booth heard our voices raise and decided we were unhappy so he said he would refund our $$ and let us walk.....we were sitting in a booth w/Rene so how did he know we were not happy? We met Sam and he was the absolute biggest Jerk ever, if he had just apologized and said you can have either 0% or $500.00 rebate, sorry we didn't explain that we would have still taken the deal but he assumed we were mad and refunded our $$ w/out letting us talk. The reason he did this we found out later was when you buy a car you are requested to complete a Survey which is solely applied to the Sales reps commision it's HUGE for them so if they have the slightest inclination that you could give them a poor rating they won't sell you the car which is exactly what happened to us. The sales guy (GIN) great guy in the parking lot was dumbfounded. We bought our car from Fremont Toyota and they actually said if we gave them a excellent rating on the survey we would get our price, we now have a new car and didn't have to deal w/the jerk Sam Pieracy.
The service department sucks! I had an appt for a couple of weeks to get a new seatbelt. When I arrived on the day of the appt I was told that they don't have the part in stock. He said the people that take the appts only take appts, they don't know if the parts are in stock. What?? He said he could order it for me and I could come back another day. And btw it 'll cost $339 and I'd have to pre pay. No way. I'll take my business elsewhere!
This dealership is so freaking rude to potential customers. For starters, they don't listen to what you're saying. I was trying to purchase a car at the end of 07, and I wanted a 08 car. This lady goes on and on about how the 07 is the same model as the 08 and wouldn't even initially give me the price for it. WTH?
Anyway, when they did give me a price, it was pretty darn high. I ended up getting my car from another dealership for about 2,000 less than what they told me. Ironically, my new car from another dealership had brought in the car from Stevens Creek Toyota. Umm... okay. They won't sell it to me for less, but they're willing to lower their price a lot more to sell to some other dealer that's selling it to me. I wonder if that sentence was too confusing...
Overall horrible experience. Even though we got an OK price on a car we needed that day, the whole experience was bad. Tiny middle eastern guy salesman over there is a total moron. This guy was making up things left and right, and outright lying (I researched the car and the trim levels before hand). The finance guys are also a last stop at pushing a useless pre-paid maintenance plan on you and can't take no for an answer. I am used to dealing with these people so not really a problem for me, but I would not recommend anyone to buy anything from here.
A certain "jamie s." who wrote a review of this dealership sent me a yelp message saying that I needed to "get a life" and "look in the mirror". Judging from the review she gave, she either works for the dealership or is somehow related to this Omeed Farahani person she mentioned. The sleaziness of Stevens Creek Toyota has reached new depths! Now they are even hiring Yelp trolls to harass reviewers.

This is your textbook sleazy car dealer. I went to Stevens Creek Toyota on a Sunday afternoon to test drive a Toyota Prius. I've done a lot of research on the car and plan to buy one very soon. I still don't know where I'll get it from, but Stevens Creek Toyota is one place I definitely WONT get it from.
The guy who helped me was a real piece of work. Before I test drove the Prius, he 'test-drove' my girlfriend with his eyes. Noticeably leering at a potential customer's girlfriend isn't a good sales tactic. During the test drive I was told a series of lies which were changed as the guy realized I wasn't a complete idiot. I was told that there was no way I could get the car in the color I wanted, which he quickly took back when I told him that Sunnyvale Toyota said they could get it for me. He told me that the Civic Hybrid 'isn't really a hybrid', which is bullshit. I was already sold on the Prius over the Civic. Finally, he let me know that the Prius was 'much more fuel efficient' than my current car (a 2000 pontiac grand am). Wow, really?
The real kicker was that he was trying to figure out how rich I was the whole time. Dude, obviously I can afford a car if I'm looking at one. Whether I started working at Google before the IPO is irrelevant. Slyly asking me if I 'play the market at all' is transparent. They did claim they would 'beat any price I got', but to me, it's worth a few hundred dollars not to give these clowns my money.
By contrast, Sunnyvale Toyota was extremely respectful and Courteous. I think I talked to Rob there... They even told me that I was much better off getting financing somewhere else because I could get a better rate, which is surprisingly honest.
Avoid Stevens Creek Toyota like the plague.
I went to look at the Toyota Prius. The guy who did the test drive for me noticed the people near us were talking to another dealer in Chinese. He said, "I thought we were in America!"

I had absolutely no intention of buying a car from them. (To tell the truth, the slime that oozed from them was palpable.) But after such a loathsome comment, I basically just let them waste their time with me. (My boyfriend finally cracked and dragged me away.) The lies and half-truths they told were legion.
Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!
I received what I thought was a good price quote via the internet sales department. When I showed up at the dealership the sales person, Soy was extremely nice UNTIL I told her I had a trade. I owned my trade, and I requested that they come close to the Kelly Blue Book trade-in value. At this point Soy became EXTREMELY rude. She tried to pull the "I could get in trouble for selling you this car at such a low price" routine. I asked her why she would get in trouble for selling a car, which set her off. At this point she became so arrogant that I asked for my key back and left.
The very next day I received a quote from Toyotoa of Walnut Creek for ONE THOUSAND dollars less than what I was quoted from Stevens Creek Toyota. Not only did Toyota at Walnut Creek give me almost Kelly Blue Book trade-in value . . . they also were extremely nice and had me out the door in two hours.
The best part of this story is two days after I purchased my car from Walnut Creek, I received an email from another internet sales person from Stevens Creek Toyota stating that he could beat the price I was quoted (unknowingly) by his co-worker, Soy. I had to restrain from telling them to go F themselves.
Ugh! Hate this location! They always forgot to do the little things like re-program the sensors/signals after oil changes, tire allignments. When I got my first new car it really freaked me out as I'd leave the shop and all of a sudden an (!) would show up on my dash. I'd pull over and get my manual and it would say "Get to your dealership" WTF! I just came from there, but I'd go back and it was just a sensor/light they needed to push in a few times but didnt. I know how to do all that stuff now myself but damn it stressed me out in the beggening. Hmmm shouldn't they know my car better than me? Guess not.
I need oil filters for my truck and my wife's 4Runner. I tell the guy: 1996 Tacoma, 2.4L, 2wd, extra cab. He gives me 4 oil filters in a bag, I pay and I am in a hurry because I have to get back to Boulder Creek to pickup my son from daycare.
After dinner, I go outside and proceed to start the oil change. I take out the new filter from the box and noticed right away it is too small. Crap!!!!Luckily, I didn't start draining the oil from my truck!
OK, next day after work. Same guy who gave me the filters standing there, I said: "You gave me the wrong oil filters." He said: "No, they are for a 1986 Toyota pick up. " I say: "No, you see that white truck there it is a 1996 Toyota pick up and that is what I asked for!" He says, I told him 1986 and proceeded to chew me out and attempt to charge me a 20% restocking fee for the filters he screwed up on!
I said, "forget it and **** you!"
I went home, stopped by Chris, at Mountain Mechanics on the way. Told him what I had been through. He traded me the 4 oil filters I got screwed on and gave me 4 others that will fit my truck and 4 Runner! Thank you, Chris! Screw you, Stevens Creek Toyota! Guess where I am never going to buy anything from ever again?!? I recommend Santa Cruz Toyota or Sunnyvale Toyota for parts
Great sales guy (Nart) but TERRIBLE sales management; unfair trade offers; bait and switch; will waste your time saying a deal is possible, then make a low-ball offer; trying to move cars to make trips to Vegas; not the way to run a business; AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Their parts dept. sucks balls. I had to return a part, unused, the same day because it turned out it was the incorrect part. They charged me a "restocking" fee of 20%. What j*rkoffs--I could see if it was a week or two later, but it was a SAME DAY and unused return. They gave me some mallarky about "automated ordering", where once I bought the part, their computer automatically ordered another, as if they couldn't stop the second order. Restocking fees are not unheard off--it is basically up to the dealer to charge them or not. And in this case, they did. Well, it looks like I've got company in my low opinion of them. A**holes.
I've been here twice to look at cars and both times I walked away and down the street to Honda and bought a car there. The first time I went the guy kept walking behind me and talking and asking me questions about what I wanted EVEN after I told him right off the bat that I wasn't going to buy today so I just want to look! The second time I go there (a year later) the same thing happens but worst. The first guy comes up to me and I tell him I'm browsing and if I like something I'll come and get him. The guy backs off. I don't see anything I like so I walk off and as I'm walking to my car on the street another guy comes running into the street and leans on my truck and asks me why I seem upset. I said I'm not upset I just didn't see anything I like. He starts to pressure to come back as he leans on my car so I can;t leave. I step out of the car and tell him to take him a hike and go on about what a piece of s*** the sales team is there. He keeps giving a dirty look as if he wants to throw down with me. I'm the customer retard, didn't they teach you how to act in salesman 101 class. Don't even waste your time with these idiots. Go down the street to Honda. I would give them a negative star if I could.
This has got to be the worst customer service Toyota dealership I've dealt with. Been trying to buy a 4Runner and I got strung along with the possible one that was going to come in. I drove all the way down there from Oakland. Oh, they didn't have it.
Get another call that they have the vehicle I want. I drive down expecting it to be sales ready but the detail job was much to be desired. Spilled food in the coffee trays, wobbly rear view mirror, etc. They kept saying - Oh well we wait until the person really wants to buy the car and then we clean it. Uhhhh That's What I Drove 50 Miles To Do!
So then I continue the madness and believe they are going to fix these things and to come back in a week. WHY - Oh Why did I believe them? Of course its not ready. Meanwhile I've lost three weeks on the purchase of a car. I'm starting the search over and forgetting these guys.
I've been to a couple dealerships and this by far was the most horrible experience ever! BEFORE I even saw a potential match to a car I wanted, they kept pressuring me to fill out all of my info, and paperwork to figure out how I was going to pay for the *car I was going to buy*. They kept me there for HOURS and not once did they listen to my needs. I wanted a simple car yet they kept showing and pressuring me cars with leather seats, navigation etc. They practically kidnapped me and my father to different lots (located blocks away from the actual dealership!). The guy that drove was such a crazy driver! You would think that since I wanted a Rav4 and he was driving us in a Rav4, he would drive slow etc to show us how smooth and quiet it was but this guy drove like a racer! When we got back to the actual dealership he stuck us in a cubicle and left us in there for what seems like forever. While I waited, I looked at the next cubicle and this family looked as if they were trapped too. Turns out, they didn't even have a vehicle close to what I was looking for! The only reason I was able to get out of the lot was by saying I had reservations for dinner. I should of known the type of service I was about to receive by looking at the dealership; it looks ghetto and their other lots look like a junk yard of new cars. AVOID Rene, he is a pain and will try to squeeze every last dime out of you! Lastly, don't be fooled by their attempts of being buddy buddy with you.
I've never seen a dealership make it so hard to want to buy a car there. Two stories:
I came in with a friend to look at a Camry Hybrid. We knew exactly what we wanted, and I had a pleasant experience with Sunnyvale Acura dealing directly with the internet sales manager there (Steve Tom), so I recommended we go straight into the internet office at Toyota. Apparently he was not available, so Jay Khilnani handled us. And I mean "handled" in the worst possible connotations.
Mr. Khilnani attempted to pressure my friend into leasing his car for 60 months (!) even as we repeated that we were only interested in getting the residual and money factor rates for a Camry Hybrid for 36 months. Jay claimed such a "short term" lease made "no sense" and tried to hide a $1500 option package in the quote because it "wasn't much more." My friend gave his phone number but Khilnani never called him back.

Days later, I made the mistake of walking in to ask what their fleet/internet price was on the Prius. A tall man (Alex?) with slurred speech insisted on taking me to the storage lot (not exactly a classy location), cracked racist and sexist jokes while we drove there, had me drive the car back to the lot (and reported it to his boss as a 'test drive' no doubt), and proceeded to be very rude with me.
They proceeded to parade salesperson after salesperson into their little office with me and finally told me to come back when I was "ready to buy."
They claimed sticker prices were not negotiable (they wish) and that trade in value estimates were only handed out once you committed to buy another car (if true, another bad "company policy")
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place altogether
Typical slimy car salesmen! I joined Costco to take advantage of their pre-neogiated price discount. We walked into SC Toyota, and they told us they were part of the Costco program (but later, I found out they were lying!) Ended up overcharging us about $1k; when I confronted them on it, they refunded the money, but nevertheless! They even keep a notebook with a downloaded Costco logo inkjet printed on it!
They hire young, naive guys to greet you and put you at ease; but when it comes down to buying, the manager comes along. Yes, they're friendly, and yes, they'll be helpful. But it's your money they want.
I believe that Toyotas are the best cars made, or I wouldn't have gone there.
Beware of Gabriel, the finance guy. He's good at throwing doubt on everything, playing on your fears so you'll buy all their dealer markups. NEVER BUY LOJACK on a Toyota. It's unnecessary, as there are plenty of high end cars to steal in this area, plus the higher end Toyotas have a built-in ignition cutoff if the key isn't nearby. Gabriel tried to sell us an alarm system, and told us that the Toyota didn't have one...it doesn't, but it does have the ignition cutoff so the car can't be hotwired. He said, "A professional could get around it." Yes, but why would he bother when he could steal a new BMW or Porsche?
SKIP THE EXTENDED WARRANTY; it has many, many conditions you must meet, or it's invalid. If you make ONE claim, they get to keep all of the money.
SKIP THE PREPAID DEALER MAINTENANCE. It stops short of the 60k (the biggest cost) maintenance point. Except for the smaller 30k mile maintenance point, you're paying for $120 oil changes, which you can get for $20 on nearly every corner.
Next time, I'll go to Piercey Toyota near 880 and Great Mall Parkway. They ARE a Costco dealer, and Tak will be straightforward and helpful.

My husband shocked me recently when he wanted to go look at new cars late one evening after we left a movie on Winchester Blvd.I've always had a Toyota and he's had the same Ford pickup truck since the day we first met 11 years ago.Not only did he shock me on wanting to look at new cars but he wants to look at a Toyota.He's in law enforcement therefore he sees all makes and models of all cars everyday at work and he's very impressed with the Toyota Highlander.We went to Stevens Creek Toyota after the movie and they were closed.We wandered onto their lot and he saw a Highlander that he really liked,even the charcoal color,very impressive looking I may add.We decided to meet at Buy the Bucket for dinner the next day when his shift ended then proceed down to Toyota to possibly buy a new car.We met up with a salesman,I won't mention his name he was not abusive at all,but rather pleasant.Unfortunately he was impaired and obviously quite high on a substance that prohibited him from going slow and making sense,my husband being in law enforcement noticed this right away as did I.We had him show us the Highlander that my husband liked and we went on a short test drive and returned back to the car lot.We told the salesman that we wanted to go to Starbucks and discuss things before we make a decision.He said I'll get you a pamphlet on the Highlander before you leave to help make our decision, we said that would be appreciated.My husband asked me if I noticed anything about the salesman,I said yes let's wait here for him to come back and let's go.He not only comes back with a pamphlet on the Highlander he brings his manager to meet us.He wasn't abusive either but was rather jolly and giggled a lot and talked in broken english,didn't understand anything he said but he was nice.We left and went directly home and we discussed the car on the way and we both didn't want to purchase the car from this location from someone who appeared very impaired.Too bad because he was nice and not abusive at all.
Next day I stopped at Fremont Toyota and they had the Highlander that we now own,although they were very busy and stayed open til after closing time we have no complaints with any of the staff at Fremont they were very professional.

Called these knuckleheads on the phone asked if my car qualified for the Cash for Clunkers program. Salesman said let me ask my boss hold on.He comes back on the phone and said yes.Made an appointment with him.Went to the dealership for the appointment.First thing we found a car to buy.After that it went downhill.They said my car didn't qualify but that I could get the zero percent interest.Pissed me off waisted all that time when they could have told me on phone.Tried the old bait and switch with me.These knuckleheads are the Chuckee Cheese of car dealers. All games.
i find this dealership to be devious. We bought new 2010 Toyota Corolla for our daughter. Very first service at 5k miles you charged her $560. You are a bunch of lairs. No one called me to authorize her to pay that amount for the first oil service - most dealers, like Toyota of Palo Alto, over this service for FREE when you buy your car new from them. Anyhow, how can you say to my daughter that you called me & you "got my blessing for her to pay $560 for the 5k service "? From now on she will be doing her service at Toyota in Palo Alto instead of your establishment, which is closer to her work. Damn you!
Don't buy from these morons. I left them a $500 deposit for an incoming vehicle that they promised me and after waiting for that car to arrive they sold it to someone else.Does this sound like the place you want to do business with? Avoid this place at all costs.Poor customer service bad ethics.
Why I'm posting this I don't know why but I guess it's healthy to vent at times. I'm sitting at Sunnyvale Toyota at this moment posting this from my laptop while I wait for my new car paint and fabric sealant to be applied from a car I bought here and not at Stevens Creek Toyota.
My lease expired recently on my BMW so I decided to turn the BMW back in and get a small SUV either new on a lease or used on a purchase and wanted to have a deal arranged before I had to turn in the lease back to BMW and wanted it done last weekend.Brother drove me over to Stevens Creek Toyota where we found a salesman and told him that I had a Lease expiring at BMW and wanted to either lease a new or purchase a used.Was a hot day and all this IDIOT did was talk about football and tell me how stupid I was to have leased a car.Constantly.He was on his cell phone numerous times asking somebody football scores.He was repeating himself numerous times laughing at his own comments about me leasing my last car and that he was shocked that I'm not a football fan.Constantly.At this point he's more or less calling me stupid.He showed us a Rav4 used that interested me and permitted me to test drive it.On the test drive he immediately turned on the radio to listen to a football game.Not at all interested in answering my questions or trying to actually sell me a car.I wanted to buy that day.The Rav4 I drove was perfect for me.When we returned from the test drive we were able to escape when he said he had to run inside the building for a minute to give someone the football score.Can you imagine? Was a blessing for us we jogged over to the car and left.What an IDIOT this guy was.
We drove up to Sunnyvale Toyota where the salesman was really nice and helpful never laughed at me about lasing and didn't once mention football.He made a lease sale.He laughed when I told him about the Stevens Creek salesman and mentioned that they hear stories about them all the time.
Thursday evening I called Stevens Creek Toyota to complain to the sales staff and I was put on hold for over 10 minutes listening to a recording telling you what a great dealership they are.Got tired of waiting so I hung up the phone.I recommend Sunnyvale Toyota everyone was super nice from the salesman to the management staff.

It sounds like you make false promises to your bloggers. According to one of the post made by the General Sales manger you stated that you would take down this "haters" blog after the dealership set up their own blog so the customers can blog in a forum that something can be done. If you would like to get feed back or make comments good or bad about this dealership please go to their blog spot. Someone will respond and will not delete your comments because we feel like it or that it wasnt hateful enough like Mr. Sanders has so nicely stated.

I did state in a previous post that "I will delete this blog as soon as you post to your "Continuous Improvement" blog. Please let me know when you have updated your blog and I will delete this one."
Although not explicitly stated in my post the spirit of the sentiment was that you would address customer issues on your blog. Just because someone did not post their horror story to your blog does not mean that you can't address customer issues on yours.
Suggestion: Post to this blog all of the things you are doing to improve customer satisfaction at the dealership. Whether it be Customer Service training for your sales reps or principles you adhere to, or better yet specific examples of how you are responding to customer issues you receive at the dealership.
I would be violating a belief of mine if I would suggest posting specific disciplinary action against those sleazy characters still employed at your dealership. Please understand I am not that unreasonable.
Transparency is a term I use regularly in my business. Being transparent allows customers to see what is going on and how management is dealing with complaints. This blog achieves nothing if it just sits with no updates.
Simply creating a blog and not doing anything with it is not in keeping with the spirit of my post. So I will exercise my prerogative and keep my blog active.

We have set up this blog spot (stevenscreektoyota.blogspot.com) to provide a voice for our customers. It is and has always been for them.
The only time we would reluctantly post on it is to address or correct clear falsehoods other then that it remains a forum dedicated soully to customer comments. Plain and simple. We intently linked it to your blog to ensure that it was open to your bloggers.
We respond to every comment and review customers make on other sites concerning our dealership, good or bad but we do it indivially, one on one, in a committment to their personal privacy and for that same reason we dont share the numerous positive comments and letter we get about our dealership and its performance. Each situcation is unique but we do address the issues: management reviews comments, responds to customer indiviual and uses each positive or negative as a learning experience. We have sales meeting each week where we address issues that arise and praise employees that have handled them appropiately and correct those who have not.
We always appreicate feedback from our customer because no one has all the right answers and without that feedback it is more difficult to better serve our customers.
Which, as always, remains our number one goal.

So glad you've decided to keep your blog active it really gives one an opportunity to read about bad business tactics and employees as well as letting us tell others how we really feel.I won't get into detail because it would take too long to post so I'll just say that my experience with this dealer was horrible. The next day I wrote a letter back in July to complain and express my feelings without ever hearing back from them.When you are there to attempt to purchase everyone you talk to is literally a manager.When you have a complaint nobody is a manager they just hide their faces in the sand.I check on their official website often under information and they have a testimonials section where customers letters are posted about their experience at the dealer.Mine was never posted, only the positive ones so it's so nice that this blog is here to show the other side of the story.
My car buying experience at Fremont Toyota was excellent and I would not hesitate to return again if i ever need a car in the future.

Became a transplant to the Bay Area two weeks ago from New Jersey,and I didn't bring my old car out here with me.(I miss my old car)After reading these stories I know one dealer that won't be seeing me on their lot. Sorry to all of you who had the bad experiences but thanks for sharing them so people like me won't have to go through them.
If you've had a bad experience at the said dealer try calling Toyota Customer Relations Dept. in Southern California. They were helpful to me when I got ripped off.

Went to your dealership just a few days back to test drive a Yaris.Roamed the lot for several minutes until a salesman finally arrived to help me.He said he wasn't licensed to sell new cars only used cars.I decided to leave.Drove up the auto row to Honda and one of their salesmen took me on a test drive in a Civic.I'm now down to my last car to test drive which happens to be the Toyota Yaris four door.I proceeded over to Sunnyvale auto row and went to the Toyota dealer there.Had no problem with getting assistance to test drive a Yaris.Not impressed at all with Yaris although I was with the price.My salesman was named John and I told him that I have narrowed it down to either the Honda Civic or the Toyota Corolla which I test drove last weekend.Called John the next day told him my decision was the Corolla,made an appointment, and they even had my color preference.Overall buying experience was stress free.Good salesman, helpful dealership.Highly recommend Sunnyvale Toyota.

I've had problems with that dealership as well. I wash looking to buy my son a small truck to take to college. An all cash deal. The salesman took my license and tried to talk me into filling out a credit application. When I refused because it was CASH, he wouldn't give me back my drivers license so I could leave. He went to get his boss who tried to show me more cars on their other lots. I told them they had 1 minute to give me my license back or I was going to call the police. He finally gave me back my license but chased me out to my car trying to get my son sucked into his game.
I'm one of the many who have posted a bad experience on this blog about this dealer.Being one who believes in karma and that bad things eventually happen to bad people in due time I find it rather fitting when I happen to see several people picketing this dealership as I drive by listening to the radio about a Toyota recall while driving my Rav4 I bought elsewhere due to customer abuse from this dealer.Once this safety recall is resolved maybe Toyota can resolve the abuse issue that this dealer seems to have with customers. Yes, bad things do happen to bad people.

I bought a car here and did all the necessary paper work to transfer automatic debit of my lease from one bank to another. Months have gone by and it still hasn't been transferred by Toyota Financial Services, even though I have spent hours on the phone and computer with them and they assure me it will be done. But in the meantime it hasn't and they repeatedly ridiculously charge me a late fee! I'm paying for their incompetency! I don't know what is going on there.
They should all be fired. I have been a Toyota customer for many years, have never been late in making payments because I have had them automatically debited. It is so frustrating that Toyota Financial Services cannot institute this instead they charge me a late fee. When my present lease with Toyota is up I'll never deal with them or this dealer again.

Another negative post to add to this dealers many.Went to this dealer to purchase a vehicle through the Costco pricing program. I asked the salesman if they were involved in the Costco pricing program he assured me they were. When they quoted me the Costco price on the vehicle I wanted to purchase they quoted me $200 off the sticker price. I was suspicious so I decided to leave and try another local dealer. When I went to another dealer the salesman said they were a Costco pricing dealer and quoted me $1400 cheaper.I mean please, was it worth the 20 minute drive to save $1400? To me it is.I purchased from that dealer and when I arrived home I called Costco.I told them about the price difference between the two dealers. They told me this dealer wasn't a member of the Costco purchase program.WTF? Talk about misrepresentation.Avoid.
Had the same issue with this car dealer,they told me they were a participant in the Costco Auto Program when I went there for a price quote.Their quote seemed very high so I left and called Costco 1-800-9288,they gave me a list of the Costco Auto Program dealer participants, this dealer wasn't on the list.I purchased from a participant the next day and the price I paid including all taxes,dmv and documentation was cheaper than what they quoted without.Call the number I posted they are very helpful and will tell what dealers participate in your area.So much for honest car dealers.

I recently had a horrible experience at Stevens Creek Toyota.
After texting and talking on the phone for 10 days of what i want with all the additonal accessories, i went down to the dealership, PAID MY LEASE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE even, only to find out that the floor manager (Perry) will not honor the add-l accesories I had a part of the purchase package deal. Ridiculous!
Asked to get reimbursed and walked away! WOW!

I think that someone is abusing this blog. There are many posts that have nothing to do with stevens creek toyota or vw or even dealerships in general. I think that Mr. Sanders has got his point across that some dealerships can be abusive and it can't be tolerated but this blog has lost that forum and should be discontinued. If you have a grip post a review on yelp or dealer rated. Much better platform and it is directed at the business not just a bitch session.

Funny how every person that has a issue with Stevens Creek Toyota goes to Sunnyvale Toyota, when there are at least 5 other Toyota dealerships within 10 minutes of each other...HMMMMM could an employee of Sunnyvale Toyota be adding comments. I dont know if I would like to do business with a company that likes to bash its competitions reputation. I'm not saying that Stevens Creek Toyota is perfect, but we can all have bad experiences where every we go. People are human and make mistakes, have off days. Its what we do to make up for it or make the changes need so it wont happen the next time. I think someone has it out for this dealership and its pretty sad. This place can't be so awful.

I had issues with the Service Manager at Stevens Creek Toyota.
One month after I'd purchase my brand new Camry, the paint started chipping and flaking on the driver's side bottom door rail. He insinuated that I'd done it myself with my heels, even though I'm almost 6 feet tall, and the damage was too far back for my heels to have touched it.
He was rude, condescending, and attempted to belittle me at every turn.
I called my husband, who is a people manager by profession. Within 10 minutes of my husband arriving the service manager has insulted him and attempted to belittle him also. It got so bad that I had to step in between them. We escalated the issue to the regional manager of Toyota Motor Corp and ended up splitting the cost of repair with them. Now, after almost 3 years, the problem has not recurred...proving to me that the part was defective rather than my use of the vehicle being at fault. I switched the service of my vehicle to the Sunnyvale dealership, and they've been wonderful. I now need to hand the vehcile back at the end of the lease, and I dread dealing with Stevens Creek Toyota again. One thing is for sure, though...I will never, ever purchase another vehicle from them, and after arguing with the regional manager, I will probably never own another Toyota. Well done guys - another repeat customer turned away.

You don't have to return the leased Camry at the dealership you bought it from you can go to any Toyota dealership you wish.I had a similar bad experence with this dealer and returned my lease at Palo Alto Toyota and they treated me right.I leased a Highlander Hybrid a few years back and my gas mileage was 12 mpg below what Toyota estimated so I brought it back to figure out the problem,they said it was me.Palo Alto found the problem and it improved a lot but when the lease expired I took it back there for the return.I leased a Honda from Anderson Honda and they were very professional and the car is trouble free.Best of Luck Ally

I left and went to two other Toyota dealerships and didn't get treated that way.I saved almost $800 at another dealer and didn't have to jump through hoops.They have a customer relations manager that I tried to call 3x to express my displeasure and was never there to take a call. Isn't this 2011?

Part I: To Heather in customer relations at Stevens Creek Toyota. I am wondering what your real job is because your empty words of apology does absolutely nothing for customer relations. I am left believing there’s a culture at SCT that places no value on long term relationships. I will make the assumption you are not empowered in your position to make proper decisions, leaving your customers knowing they will NEVER return to SCT. Recently, my Toyota Tundra developed a severe gash in the gas intake hose, which is made of plastic. Amazing for a 4 wheel drive to have such a vulnerable part with no protection... My first clue should have been the first comment offered when we took the vehicle to be fixed first thing on a Monday morning: You might have spider webs blocking the intake... NO JOKE!!! When I asked if they looked at the gash, I was told "NOT MY JOB." So, since they could not look at it at the time (which was unbelievably easy to see), they delayed ordering the part. Unfortunately they did not determine the part was not available from their local warehouse until Wednesday. Once they found the part at another warehouse, they were unable to receive the part until Friday. Not once did they call us with status; we had to place the calls. When I talked to the service person in charge, I got non-empathetic or non-informative responses. When I asked to be transferred to the general manager, he tried to get me to the service manager instead. He refused to transfer me at that point so I called back. I never reached or heard from the general manager, but I was finally referred back to the service manager. Frankly, nothing changed at this point, and I was pushed to Heather, in customer relations, who was not available. Heather did call me and I shared my story. Heather listened attentively and apologized profusely, but no real consideration was ever offered and she never called back or followed up. I can only believe she just wanted to get me off the phone.
Part II: Somehow, they had time to check the brakes to determine they needed replacement. Curiously, I had just had tires replace just weeks before at another provider and their form indicated the brake pads still had some life and no urgency was indicated, hmmm… When we picked up the vehicle, there was an odd charge for “Rental Vehicle”; which turned out to be 10 plus gallons of gas they supposedly pumped into the tank to test the line (which I concede was thoughtful); but I had three quarters of a tank when I dropped off the vehicle. That was not a huge concern, until I saw the price they charged me, which was a $1.00 more per gallon than the price I typically pay. Insult to injury. I thought Heather might take this opportunity to visit with us and perhaps acknowledge our concerns; NOPE. No effort to look us in the eye and apologize or offer any compensation for their pathetic service. What made this frustrating for us was the timing. This was supposed to be our family’s summer vacation week. We had a cabin & boat for the week that we could only use for the following weekend. They knew this up front and never offered a rental, or loaner vehicle, which in my opinion would have demonstrated some thoughtful consideration for all the BS. Based on years of experience with Piercy Toyota; they would have fixed this the same day and we would have been on our way. Not surprising this would be our expectation at Stevens Creek Toyota, but it was the opposite. Have we heard from Stevens Creek Toyota since? NOPE. Will I ever consider purchasing a vehicle or service from Stevens Creek Toyota? NOPE, NEVER, ABSOLUTELY NOT! Have I told this story over and over? YUP, and so will all my friends & acquaintances. As a long time Toyota customer, I think they make a terrific product and I may purchase Toyotas in the future; but I am now drive a Honda. Heather; I have been in sales for over 30 years and I know how to treat customers. I/we all make mistakes, but there’s no excuse for avoiding the truth. I suggest you find a job elsewhere, where you can learn to employ proper and respectful “Customer Relations” practices. SCT hasn’t a clue and you’ll never have self respect working for an operation that treats their customers with such disrespect. If you talk the talk, you have to walk the walk in order to be credible. Your words remain empty, and you know who I am if you wish to contact me… Doubtful...
Save yourself time and money this is a very poorly managed Toyota franchise. You can drive 15 minutes in any direction and shop at a much better Toyota dealership.I would have posted a comment on Yelp but I won't give this franchise the one star minimum.
I'm so thankful for the internet because I'm in the market for a new Sequoia, upgrading from a 4-Runner, and was thinking about going over to Steven's Creek to take a look and now I know to look elsewhere. This will be the first brand new vehicle I buy and I've heard a lot of horror stories firsthand from friends and family. I don't have nor want to spend the time with deceptive sales tactics which is what it sounds like they put this customer through. I'm under the impression that these dealerships teach or encourage these sales tactics and even reward those that are able to sell to unfortunate customers that don't know any better or buy in frustration. I'm sure there are great salespeople out there as well, but I just don't feel like taking a chance or dealing with it. Can anyone recommend a positive experience they've had with a broker and how to get in touch with them. I really wish that CarMax sold new cars, where I bought my current car. The salespeople aren't paid on commission, so there's no pressure. It's the same difference to them whether you buy the cheapest or most expensive car on the lot. No run around. Good luck to all of you out there buying a new car, and thanks to all of you posting your experiences. Definitely helps me in my journey to purchase a new car!!

A completely horrible experience. Carlos threw a childish fit when we did not continue with the car purchase. He tried to refuse to return my mother's personal information. I'll neve be back to any Toyota dealership or purchase a Toyota ever again.
I came here with a friend who's looking for a new car because her current car is breaking down. As usual of dealership, someone was watching us and approached us as soon as we parked and got out of the car. I expected the usual song and dance of showing us different cars that are in our price range, a test drive and a "what does it take for you to take the car today" talk at the end. Unfortunately...ironic I know...it never got that far.
My friend was interested in a Prius but we were told they aren't interested in showing us ANY cars unless we are interested in buying the car that day. WTF?!? How do we know what we really want until you show them to us?!?
Needless to say, we will NEVER be coming back here again.
My Review of Stevens Creek Toyota:
2009 Toyota has been in the service department for electrical problems since day 1. 3 faulty batteries and two faulty sensors. Service department refuses to properly diagnose the problem and continues to guess at the problem. Vehicle was in the shop once for 5 days straight while they try and diagnose a bad battery. Their response to the battery problem was that it was probably dropped. Now the problem seems to be a faulty sensor. The vehicle has had three visits and two sensors replaced(same sensor). We are not waiting for the sensor or battery to go bad again so that we can return the vehicle to have it replaced yet again. It's about time to enact the lemon law on this Toyota.
Knowing how faulty the vehicle has been we tried to get an extended warranty through this Toyota Dealership. I had shopped around for different quotes and was given three different quotes from other Toyota Dealerships. I took those quotes into the dealership and was told that they cannot meet or beat those prices. I explained that these are the exact same warranties through Toyota Financial that they offer and for our troubles they should have honored the quotes. Instead we were told to take our business elsewhere and that they wouldn't be able to match the price.
The cost of the extended warranty through their dealership was $2400 and the quote I received from three other Toyota dealerships was 1/3 that cost.
At that point I had lost all interested in bringing my business to their dealership and found their Service Manager and Customer Relations Person extremely rude and unwilling to work with an unhappy customer.
Update 11/11/11:
Asked the Customer Relations Person (Heather) on 11/9/2011 if she could please provide me the name and number of the GM of Stevens Creek Toyota as sell as the Regional Rep for Toyota in the Bay Area. I told her that I wanted to speak to them personally. Her response to me was that they were already aware of the situation. I responded back to Heather telling her that I still wanted to speak to them and if she could please provide me her General Managers name and number as well as the Regional Rep. Three days later and I have not received a response. Don't worry..I will eventually find out.
Update: 11/14/11:
Still no response from Heather from Stevens Creek Toyota on my request for the Managers name. So I just contacted Piercy Toyota and they were more than willing to provide me the information.

Is you have problems with Stevens Creek Toyota service don't bother wasting your time with Customer Relations. Just go directly to the General Manager.
Think very carefully before subjecting your self to staff at this dealership. The service department does not understand the concept of customer service and they lack even basic business social skills. They treated me like they were doing me a favor and that my time was of no value. The service writer was staring at my friends chest more than listening to our concerns. She got creeped out by him and refuses to ever go back. When we picked up the car it was dirter than when we left it and when I pointed this out the response was " well a shop is dirty - what do you expect"?
WOW. Read this dealers reviews on Yelp, simply put shameful. Guess where I'm not buying my Tundra at?
Unfortunately, a point exists where sides become emotional and unreasonable in negotiations. this is not unique to the automobile industry. Stop getting so emotional and personal. Realize that there are two sides, always! We are not without fault, any of us. Get on with your life and stop wallowing in the negativity. What a miserable existence.

Standing up for your rights and holding people accountable for the wrongs they do is what this country was founded on. I update this blog once in a while and it takes all of 10 minutes a month. I do not "wallow in negativity" I am simply holding Stevens Creek Toyota accountable for publicly humiliating me by cussing me out on the showroom floor.
If you read this blog carefully you will see I have offered Stevens Creek Toyota a goodwill gesture of taking this blog down once they perform some very simple tasks. Since they do not comply, I am not taking the blog down.
In fact after this blog was posted for a little while they tried to bribe me to take it down by offering me a vehicle below dealer invoice. I refused the offer and asked for a simple gesture on their part. Read the posts carefully and you will see that they have not complied. So, I will enjoy the satisfaction I get from potentially causing them some loss in business.
Plus, if you think that a car dealership should be able to get emotional and cuss someone out if that person does not buy a car for the dealer's asking price you are seriously warped. They SHOULD not be able to get emotional and cuss someone out if the consumer is not willing to pay what the dealership is asking.

Great blog. As gas prices continue to rise and the talk of $5 a gallon gas on the horizon I've decided that I need to buy an economical sedan for my commute to work daily from San Jose to Pleasanton. Thanks to this blog I gave my business to a nearby Honda dealership because Toyota Corporation allows this dealer to conduct themselves in this matter. No complaints whatsoever with my purchase with Honda, they were first class.
Don't remove this blog, after the way you and many other were treated and then bribed it tells me a lot about their integrity. Obviously it all starts at the top and it has been going on for several years so they have no intention of changing. Blog On!
All sounds way too familiar. I will never return to Stevens Creek Toyota. Happy to say I'm buying another new vehicle at a better dealership; which would be ANYWHERE else. Customer Relations, HAH! SCT is a complete joke! Ignore any postings to the contrary as those are posted by the sct employees.
Agreed, I just talked another friend into NOT buying thier new truck from stevens creek Toyota.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Hope you have a better buy experience somewhere else. We have customers who purchase from us that would say the same thing about other dealerships. No one's perfect and we don't pretend to be perfect. We do believe that we can learn from every experience and transaction what we can do better for the next customer. One thing that you should know about our dealership is that we have integrity, meaning we dont post false reviews. We take the good with the bad. We wish you the best in your purchasing process.

Bad Yelp reviews. Only good reviews are created by staff of this dealer and all by the same salesman.
LOL yes I noticed on Yelp the only good reviews they get are done by themselves,firt time Yelpers and members the same day, how messed up is that? If they had 0 stars I'd give them my review.
there are always two sides to every story and it seems only the bad stories get on the internet and the thousands of great experiences stay silent.
For instance try to go in and negotiate the same way when you want to buy a computer, a cell phone or have a contractor do work on your house, treat them like dirt and be short with them and sterotype them and see what kind of service you get.
What other thing can you buy that gives you all you get in a car these days, style, comfort, cutting edge tech, and performance. Bluetooth, telematics, streaming audio, safety. The business is very regulated these days so it is almost impossible to get ripped off, even the banks will only loan a fair value against a car, again built in protection. I would tell the writer of these posts to get a life and stop bullying these sales people trying to eak out an honest living. I know many people who have bought cars here, I myself have purchased 5 cars here and hate to see one upset customer try and slam their reputation.

Dishonesty, bait and switch and other sales tricks and tactics are designed to generate sales and revenue and taught to employees and it all starts at the top.

Worst auto dealership in the Bay Area without a doubt. Honda treated me well and earned my business.Whoever manages this place is to blame.
After reading this blog and all the bad reviews on Yelp I decided to go to another dealer. Consumers deserve better.
Sorry to hear that you think I'm worthless considering that I have been with this dealership for over 18 years and we have had high success rate in satisfying our customers expectations and resolving issues. Unfortunately, not all issue can be resolved to the satisfaction of all parties but that does not make anyone worthless. This is not a business of perfection we do what we can to the best of our abilities. Our goals is always to make our guests comfortable and happy. Sometimes we fall short but it is not from a lack of trying.
